Airing on Swarnavahini TV in 2000, Helidarawwa was one of the most popular programs in Sri Lanka at the time. Not to be confused with Hiru TV’s Helidarawwa. “Helidarawwa” is an Investigative documentary series that aired on Swarnavahini TV from 2000 to 2001. Hosted by Tharaka Wasalamudaliarachchi (Tharu Queen), Helidarawwa exposes Societal Corruption, Human rights violations & Social injustice. The series contained a mysterious atmosphere. The Sumathi Tele Awards were held in 2000 and “Helidarawwa” won Best Investigative Program of 2000. The Sumathi Tele Awards were held in 2001 and “Helidarawwa” won the award for Best Investigative Program a second time. “Helidarawwa” is one of Sri Lanka’s most respected and loved program. And it’s one of Tharaka’s most notable work.
